I'm a family photographer in Lincoln, Nebraska and here is what I want you to tell me
When you book me as your memory maker I take it seriously, I send you a lot of information, so you get the desire and care you deserve and I have you send me A LOT about you and your fam bam, because I want to KNOW you.
I am not longer just your photographer, I am Aunt Shadlee (ok, that might be a little much HAHA) but when you are proud of your kids, I am too!
As your Lincoln, Nebraska family photographer: I actually want to hear from you!
Most clients hold back, but please don't the more I know about why your nervous or what you're hoping for everything gets better!
Here is what to say and when!
BEFORE YOUR SESSION TELL ME MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU NEED TOO
Baby not sleeping, toddler in a MOOD? Someone in your family is less than thrilled at the thought of photos?
None of that is too much, the more I know the better I can prepare and make the session seamless.
In example: when I had a mom tell me her partner is stressed and not interested in the session, I had the ability to empower her to be honest with her spouse in that she is so excited about the photos and really appreciated his effort and that he should know he doesn't have to know how or what to do, that I as the family photographer would take care to it all. When we spoke later, she mentioned that to him and it put his worries at ease and he just loved on his family (he also said I made it painless! YAY!)
DURING YOUR SESSION SAY SOMETHING
Does an idea I have feel weird and not like your family?
Let me know and we will regroup, you are not hurting my feelings or interrupting the session. You are making it easier on me and a better outcome because I can't fix what I don't know.
In example I had a family session that made it clear they were just not comfortable snuggling and playing on camera, they really just like and are comfortable looking at the camera and smiling. Because I was told ahead of time I prepped correctly for it.
After your session, your feedback is needed and appreciated!
Something a lot of people don't think about is we (or at least I am) sitting on pins and needles waiting to here if you love your photos! I love just a quick reply of "we love the photos!"
We spend a lot of time on your gallery and hearing that you love them means everything!
Taking it to the next level by leaving a google or facebook (how bout both? :) Is really, relaly helpful for families like you to find a family photographer in their area.
Telling your friends and family what it was like to work with me and suggesting me DOES make me teary eyed, I am so grateful everytime I hear a "blank mentioned how much she loved working with you!"
A short honest review help moms know they can trust me and it means a lot to a small photography buiness in a giant world :)
Working with your photographer should feel like a breeze and I HOPE like we are friends after.
I got into this business because I wanted to create moments for families with little ones, to hold on to the season o flife for a lifetime. It's so important to me, but even more important to me once I learned I was infertile. It's a way for me to be part of a families joy with little ones becasue that is not in the cards for me to have my own.
